Emerald of Chaos (Chapter 10)Tikal looked up to see a large metal cane. His coat flowed all the way to the ground. His hat formed a shadow over his face.
"Tikal!" Charmy gasped in the doorway.
"What do we need her for?" Eggman asked.
"Do you remember Chaos? Tikal, I need you to recreate a new chaos," Mr.S instructed.
"What? But you need-" Tikal started to protest.
"A chao?" Mr. S interrupted, "I have plenty."
"I won't do it!" she protested. "He caused utter destruction last time, and we can't let that happen again."
"You need to help us. We need him to stop a very bad person," Mr. S argued.
"I see how it is." Mr. S clapped his hands and two robots came around Vector, Charmy, and Espio and into the room. They ran off, for fear of being caught snooping.
"Take her. She will help us in time," Mr. S commanded. The robots were small and ball shaped. they rolled on a single wheel each, and had three long arms. Both robots wrapped their arms around one of her's and lifted her off the ground and out of the room.
The TrundlerThe waste land behind the fire station is always silent. No birds sing there, and even the wild rabbits and feral cats avoid it. Weedy wildflowers nod their seasonal heads in the breeze. Lying fallow in the midst of housing developments, shopping malls, the new movie theater — the vacant lot stands out like a knife wound on a woman’s placid face, shocking, brazen, ugly.
It is always empty. Except for one thing: a ragged heap of old trash, all nasty black tar paper and vicious snarls of rusted wire, car parts and broken glass and other junkyard jetsam. The embodiment of injury waiting to happen, an invitation to a tetanus shot... the city never hauled it away. No one ever wants anywhere near it; it radiates an eerie sense of calculating watchfulness.
And at night, it wanders.
When darkness falls, and the last cars heading into the hives of tract housing stop illuminating the asphalt with moving-picture shadows, it… unfolds. Bitter, broken tangles, grotesquely mov
